If you’re reading this, it means that we are celebrating the launch of the METRIQ website! This site will serve as the launching point for our very ambitious study. As outlined throughout the site, we are hoping to recruit 64 medical students, emergency medicine residents, and emergency medicine attendings / consultants to review and rate 20 blog posts using tools that have been developed for this purpose and their own gestalt. As the use of blogs for medical education purposes has expanded, so too has the need to develop ways to effectively and efficiently determine their quality.
Lead study author Brent Thoma (@Brent_Thoma) describes the purpose of the study in the video below which will also be posted on the website’s homepage. The most important part of the message is that if we are going to successfully recruit the population of evaluators that we need, we are going to need your help. If you would consider signing up to read (something that you would have probably done anyways!) and rate 20 blog posts please let us know on the homepage. Everyone that completes the study will be recognized as a “METRIQ Study Collaborator” and, if they desire, haveĀ a letter attesting to their participation sent to the supervisor or administrator of their choice.
If you would also consider passing this site on to your classmates and colleagues we would greatly appreciate it.
